Ronny Chieng
Ronny Chieng
was born 21/11/1985. Chieng is currently a senior correspondent on The Daily
Show on Comedy Central. He also created and stars the sitcom Ronny Chieng
International Student, which debuted on ABC Australia (Australia) in 2017.
Chieng was born into a Malaysian Chinese family. He was born in Johor Bahru.
Chieng was born in Singapore as well as the United States. He lived in
Manchester, New Hampshire, from 1989 to 1994. Chieng performed alongside Trevor
Noah at a Melbourne comedy festival in 2013. Two years later Chieng was asked
to audition for the correspondent role on The Daily Show, which Noah hosts.
Chieng was named one of the 10 Comics to Watch in the July issue of Variety. In
October, Chieng joined The Daily Show to discuss the controversial Jesse
Watters Fox News segment which was widely believed to be racist. Chieng
expressed his opinion with a lot of expletive regarding the segment on Fox
News, a conservative news network. He also returned to the city's Chinatown.
Watters had mocked the inhabitants of the area and conducted interviews with
respect in Mandarin Chinese and Cantonese. The video was viewed by millions and
received media coverage in the Washington Post and Slate. Washington Post and
Slate In his youth, Chieng was a Singapore Sea Scout. Chieng hasn't managed to
get citizenship or permanent residency status in Australia despite having lived
in Australia for 10 years. In the year 2018 Chieng made a joke about being
cynophobic during the Daily Show However, he later , in an interview, he said
that Chieng was "100 percent unafraid of dogs".
