Susan Sarandon Bio

It was the 1968 Democratic Convention, and there was a casting need for a film with a variety of parts for young people who interrupted it. Two recent graduates from Catholic University in Washington DC were invited to audition in New York for Joe (1970). Chris Sarandon, an actor who had studied to be an actor, was rejected. His wife Susan was offered a prominent role as Susan Compton who was the daughter of Bill Compton (Dennis Patrick). In the film Dad Bill kills Susan's drug dealer partner and then makes friends with Joe (Peter Boyle)-- the bigot who is working in an assembly line and who has a collection of guns.Five years after, Sarandon made the film in which fans of classic films have come to know her character Janet, who gets entangled with transvestite Dr. Frank n Furter in The The Rocky Horror Picture Show (1975). After over 15 years, Sarandon became a vocal advocate for Annie in Bull Durham (1988), taking a flight from Rome to Los Angeles at her expense. "It was an amazing script ... and removed the myths that surround it and challenge the American definition of success" she told. "I had a few hours there with Kevin Costner, sex some guys at the studio, and then I got back on a plane. Tim Robbins, her Bull Durham (1988) as a supporting actor was her first love. He had two sons by the year 1992. This put Sarandon in a awkward spot. Sarandon would leave her home in order to pursue roles that were truly challenging. This was the result of four Academy Award nominations in 1990s and for best actress in Dead Man Walking (1995). Louis Malle's Atlantic City (1980), was her first Academy Award nomination.
